Dear Friend,
I am writing to ask for your participation this year in Cambridge
Cares About AIDS, Inc.'s (CCAA) Holiday Toy Drive. The men and women
whom we serve at CCAA are already burdened by all the problems of the
urban poor, including chemical dependence, inadequate housing, and
fragile family structures. That is further exacerbated by the
stigmatization of HIV/AIDS.
As the holidays approach, pressures increase. For many CCAA families
this holiday season may be the last for everyone to be together. Many
of the families have both parents who are severely ill and unable to
afford presents for their children. Often parents feel hopeless and
empty at the prospect of leaving children behind and not being able to
bring them the holiday joy that other children experience.
CCAA's Holiday Toy Drive will run through December 16th. We are
asking contributors to give *new toys*. Please drop off a new toy for
one of the parents with HIV/AIDS at our office, 9 to 5, M-F.
We are hopeful that you will assist us in providing gifts for our
families. CCAA knows that the cycle of poverty can be interrupted
with your participation. Thank you for your commitment and concern
for people living with HIV/AIDS. Please do not hesitate to contact me
if you have further questions.
Sincerely,
Tony Botti
Coordinator of Client Services
