I got this email from the CRC, which we've volunteered with in the past
for tree pruning. It looks like a lot of fun -- anyone interested in
going with me?

P.S. CRC has volunteer events (probably not tree pruning though) on July
12 and 19 -- email edm@thecharles.org if you're interested in those.

Join Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA) volunteers in ridding
the Charles of an invasive aquatic plant. Exotic water chestnuts are
choking out oxygen, light, and creating a boating hazard in Newton
and Waltham; volunteers will use canoes to reach the shallow waters
and shorelines to pull the plants from the river.
During the last weeks of July and in early August, CRWA is working to
remove as many water chestnut plants as possible. Gather a group of
friends or colleagues and sign up for one of the following sessions:
Tuesday, July 15th, 5:30-8:00pm
Saturday, July 19th, 10:00am-2:00pm
Sunday, July 20th, 10:00am-2:00pm
Volunteers should meet at Charles River Canoe and Kayak at 2401
Commonwealth Avenue (Route 30), Newton. Since space is limited,
please RSVP to Rebecca or Julie at charles@crwa.org or 781-788-0007.
All volunteers will have the chance to enter a drawing to win tickets
to the August 6th Jack Johnson concert at the Tweeter Center,
courtesy of CRWA. For more information, please visit our website at
