Executive Summary: There will be a blood drive at MIT from Tuesday,
April 17, through Friday April 20, in La Sala in the Student Center.
The drive will run from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday, and from noon to 6pm
on Wednesday through Friday. Please use
http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/ to make an appointment for faster
service.

Hello,

Please allow me to begin by thanking everyone who made our February
drive a success. We collected 296 pints of blood. On behalf of the
Red Cross, thank you for saving lives. Unfortunately this was not
enough to defeat Caltech in the Blood Battle.

The Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at MIT from from Tuesday,
April 17, through Friday April 20, in La Sala in the Student Center.
The drive will run from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday, and from noon to 6pm
on Wednesday through Friday. By giving blood, or volunteering your
time at the blood drive, you can help save lives.

Did the government just take a big chunk out of your bank account on
tax day? We won't take a big chunk out of you, but we'd love to take
a pint of blood instead. Please come donate.

The Red Cross relies on appointments to decide how many staff to
provide on a given day. Making appointments will decrease your wait,
and make the drive run faster as a whole (even if you can only tell us
what day you want to donate, and not what time during the day.) To
make an appointment, fill out the form at:

	http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/

If you cannot make an appointment please feel free to come to the
drive and donate anyway.

We can always use more volunteers to help out during the drive to get
people registered quickly and take some of the pressure off the Red
Cross workers. Even if you can't donate blood, you're welcome to
donate some of your time to the drive. Some of the services that
volunteers may perform are registering donors, staffing the canteen,
and providing moral support to the donors. No previous experience is
necessary to volunteer. All these efforts are important to the
drive's success. To volunteer, send e-mail to
blood-drive-coordinators@mit.edu, and someone will reply to you
shortly before the drive starts.

Blood Donation Factoids:

  * Drink extra fluids before your donation. You can begin to drink extra
fluids the day before your donation. Water and juices are great, but
try to avoid a lot of caffeine.

  * An adult body contains 10-12 pints of blood.

If you want to forward this message, feel free as long as you are
sending it to a friend, or to a list for which it is appropriate. In
other words, feel free to forward, but please don't spam people on our
behalf. If anyone wants to get on our mailing list they can check the
appropriate box when making an appointment, or fill out the form at
