Date: Mon, 19 Sep 1994 10:47:45 EDT
From: Gilbert Leung <gleung@MIT.EDU>

Administrative  notes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start:  7:30 pm;  Present:  Jennifer Mosier,  Barbara,  Larry,  Rachel,
Joe Kuchta, Henning, Yale, Ezra, Dave, Cathy, Kate, Gilbert Kevin,
Charley, Harry, Jeffrey Poore
Officers'  reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SVP (Barbara): We might have to cancel our project this weekend
       because Somerville Homeless Coalition doesn't have any paint.
       We could also buy some paint for them. We have community
       service fund. How about PSC fund? Will ask Dima to look into
       other service possibilities with them.
       We have a fund raising project at the Hospitality Program on
       Tue. 9/20. I'm also looking into projects with the Nature Con-
       servancy and Boston Senior Home Care (possibily on 12/3.)
       We still have the Welmet project next weekend. The National
       Braille Press doesn't have any immediate project. We'll schedule
       a UMOCCom meeting very soon now (before Chapter Weekend
       I.)

MVP (Dave): Open Meetings are done. Sent paper reminders to 31
       or 32 prospectives about Open Projects. Still need to talk to
       Barbara. Will contact people at Open Meetings and maybe the
       next MVP can get the rest of the propspectives who didn't re-
       spond next term. I need people to help me do phone callings.
       I'll get an idea of who will pledge first, and then talk to them
       about big brothers. Thur. 9/22 8pm is "spontaneous get-
       together". Please talk to prospectives and listen to what they
       say (but don't push them too much.)

AVP (Gilbert): The database in the locker is almost 100% up-to-date.
       I changed the perl scripts so that the signup sheet defaults to not
       showing a bunch of inactive alumni and advisors [This reduces
       the number of people a PC (especially a pledge) would think
       he/she needs to call.] Talk to me if you have any concern about
       who should appear.

Treasurer (Henning): We have 24 financially actives.

FC (Rachel): Open Fellowship Event 8-10pm on Thursday at Mc-
       Cormick Dining. Dinner trip on Fridays. Emily is PC for Steak
       Fry and we have reserved Next House Country kitchen starting
       at 4pm.

APOcEd (Bert): [remote report] I'm away but you could still email
       me articles to apocrypha@mit.

PubDir (Charley): Thanks Kevin for ordering 3 rolls of drop poseter
       paper. Ping also bought paint but we currently don't have any
       black paint! (lost? walked?) Need Dave's help for computer
       stuff.

ASC (Cathy): nothing to report

Historian (Richard): not present[but took lots of pictures at the Sat.
       project]
Advisory Comm. Chair (Joe): Old advisor Dorothy Bow might be
       around again.

President (Kate): If you have any secret hidden desire to be the
       "schmuck" or just suggestions, let me know. We need one soon.
       Officers, tell me in advance if you will be hosed. Sometimes, you
       just need to delegate work to others and check on them.
       I've got lost of mail from National, mostly irrelevant to chapter.
       National Convention at Dallas will be on Dec 27-30. Talk to me
       if you want to go. We have money to subsidize you if needed.

Committee  reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Book Exchange (Kevin):   Book Exchange totalled $14,600.  We will
       have office hours from Monday to Friday 1-3pm and 6-8pm.
       Thanks to all who helped, especially the wonderful sub-PC's.
New  Business:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kate: Should we host Conclave next year (Fall '95 or Spring '96)?

Meeting:
~~~~~~~
   o Sophomores and juniors should decide because they will be doing
     the work. Seniors will have graduated by then. For that matter,
     they should go to more conclaves to find out what Conclaves are.
   o We can usually get the dates we want (late Oct./Early Nov.)
   o A lot of work to find things for others to do, to eat, and to stay.
     But if we plan soon, it's manageable and fun. We should do our
     part, also as service and leadership opportunities.
   o '96 is Alpha Chi's 60th Anniversary.  But best not to do both
     Conclave and tracking down alumni for celebration at once.
   o Joint hosting is probably bad.
   o Need to tell committee by Nov 12.
   o We will postpone decision. Announcement at Chapter Meeting.
   o Kevin will write APOC article about Conclave.
Announcements:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dave: Think about office hours. You could just set a time to eat lunch
       or dinner at office!
Jeff: Sign up for Book Exchange pickup office hours.

Jennifer: I don't know when events are...

Dave: Pledge Ceremonies are on Sept. 26, 28, and 29.
Barbara: Fellowship event on Monday at 1pm. Come enjoy food and
       help find a project!
       If you haven't PC'ed a project yet, you should talk to me.

PFTGOTO:
~~~~~~~
Henning:   IFC sucks.  Don't put battery in your pocket with a key
       chain. It will create a short!
Rachel:  My computer is back on the net.
Barbara:  Need new name for my computer - it is still called "spring."
Ezra:  Thanks to brother Brooks for games.
Jeff:  I like my schedule.
Kate:  Thanks for coming.
