It will theorectially archive a mailing list used for discussion of
the World Wide Web project. The World Wide Web or WWW or W3 is an
attmpt to create a hypertext information system that goes as close to
everywhere as possible. Think of it as a cousin of TechInfo on
steriods. :-) (WWW includes ftp and gopher natively, and adds a new
protocol called http, and is set up to deal with TechInfo, whois,
etc., etc., etc. through variaous servers). To try it out on Athena,
do:
athena% add outland; xmoasic.sh &
on an X machine. (it'll be put in the sipb locker soon). There's a
textclient called `www' in outland for RS/6000 and DECstations; it's
not ready to be installed in the sipb locker yet; I'm still testing
it.
Sorry to ruin the suspense.
