united connection airline reservation software under winos2; help!

I've been trying to get United Airlines's "United Connection" software
for 'doze 3.1 to run under winos2. In its installation, it overwrites
a number of dll's in \os2\mdos\winos2\system, apparently "updating"
the win32s facility. I've tried running it using the original os2
distribution of these files, the ones united provides, and even the
two vw32s versions available on hobbes. I get an exception message
from some damn c++ routine. I plan to complain loudly to United, but
has anyone else delt with this problem?
