Hi,
I have a quick question about switching to OS/2 I was hoping someone
here could answer. I have an old 486DX50 with AMI BIOS circa 1988-91
and I'm planning on buying a new 1 Gig EIDE hard drive.
I want to run DOS, OS/2, and Linux. Since OS/2 and Linux both handle
drives larger than 540 MB without any problems, can I just put my DOS
partition in the lower half of the drive and then use OS/2 and Linux
to get to the area above 540 Megs? Or will I have problems with my
older BIOS and it's limitations. Also, can I keep my old regular IDE
controller and use it with an EIDE drive (I'm looking at the IBM
Deskstar XP right now), albeit at the expense of some performance?
Thanks for any help,
Justin
