For what it's worth, at a meeting in Silicon Valley a while back the NetBSD
folx spoke very highly of ASUS motherboards. ASUS has a bewildering variety
of motherboards, so I asked which one specifically they had in mind and the
guy said
The one I like is the PCI/I-486SP3G. It has three PCI and three ISA
slots; onboard NCR SCSI, IDE and floppy controllers; 1 parallel and 2
16550A serial interfaces. It works with DX-33, DX2-50, DX2-66, and
DX4-100 CPU's. It uses 72 pin SIMMS.
I don't have any experience with their pentium boards. I'm told they
are also very good, but need a inexpensive daughterboard for the NCR
SCSI controller.
