   I wasn't referring to the mailing list; I was referring to the
   incorrect syntax of the (setq).  It's:
   (setq variable value variable value ...)

doh, of course, my finger typed faster than my brain could think. what i meant
to type was:

(setq bug-gnu-emacs "emacsdev@athena.mit.edu, netbsd-dev@athena.mit.edu")

I'm still not sure that's exactly right, but I think just emacsdev is
incorrect.
