AFS bug??

I observed I was unable to run OLC answers.
ktracing indicated it was unable to find /mit/olc-stock/MAGIC.
the olc-stock locker is /afs/athena/astaff/reference/olc-stock.
Trying to ls that directory on granola yields *nothing*, yet
doing so on another machine works.
Granola was just rebooted after the Dell guy replaced the hd, btw...
Mounting the volume elsewhere doesn't help...
The read-write seems to work fine. though...
Geryon seems to be running normally, feininger seems a little more lodaded
than one might expect, but still normal.
I should note that I had previously been running xboing, and then
the Xess under linux-compatibility (and both were still running.)
Also, the following appeared in my console:
