hmm...  well.. another question:
is the assembly code just to do faster math, or does it interface with
specific hardware?  if jtkohl manages to port it to netbsd.. would
translating the assembly to 680x0 be good enough?  (I know m68k, but
not intel.. I'm sure with somebody else it could be done).
