I just worked out the last few bugs in the NetBSD installation script,
and I believe that it now works properly, so I have taken out the
README in installkits/i386_nbsd1 on rtfm warning people against using
it. I've written a one-page supplement to the NetBSD installation
notes, which is meant to be distributed along with the installation
notes. It's in /afs/sipb/project/doc/netbsd. /mit/sipb/doc contains
a ps file netbsd-install.ps which prints out as six two-sided pages
containing the one-page guide and the installation notes.

If you already have an /etc/XF86Config file and know how to answer the
NetBSD installation questions confidently, it takes about 45 minutes
to go from scratch to an Athena workstation. Not too great, but not
bad.

When we have /usr/bin/login all debugged, I have an untested section
of the install script written up to offer to replace /usr/bin/login
with the Athena version. It also asks if you want to create an
/etc/noremote file to block remote logins from people who aren't in
/etc/passwd.

Now that we actually have a product to talk about at the class at the
end of January, I'm going to back off and work on my thesis. We
should get together and plan the class as soon as everyone is back in
the area.
