So, I have been considering the plight of NetBSD-Athena. I think that
it is a losing proposition to try and be the default i386-Athena,
since tb-Athena seems to have that niche locked up. However I think
supporting users who really want to use NetBSD with Athena services is
a worthwhile goal, especially if we can do it on multiple
architecture. To that end it seems that generating pkgsrc-style
packages for various Athena services, comparable to how Layered Athena
breaks Athena services into multiple packages.
So, I plan to do this. I figured I would send mail here and see if
anyone had any advice. I have not done much yet, other than get a clue
about the Athena build system. I would appreciate advice about
previous work on NetBSD-Athena that might be useful, how SIPB manages
NetBSD development, pkgsrc, and anything else that might be useful.
