I've pulled up Mike's forward-compatibility patches for LPRng into
source-sipb. This fixes an problem where if you use the Athena lpr to
send to an LPRng server, and an error occurs, the Athena lpr will
print:
You are not known by the quota server and are not allowed to print.
See User Accounts to be added.
Ops will be deploying LPRng-based print servers some time between next
week and drop date, and would like to make sure that this fix gets
into Linux and NetBSD releases soon. (It will be going into the next
Athena patch release, whenever that is.)
Since it is likely to be some time before all Linux users upgrade to
the new Linux release, it would be great if the patch ([3436] in
source-reviewers) could also be applied to the old sipb-athena
sources, and the relevant package rebuilt and advertised to
i386_linux2 users to save them confusion when the print server upgrade
happens.
