workstation can't activate properly

i don't know if the NetBSD1.3-Athena software's been a-changin', but
suddenly my computer (crackpipe) is crippled because "Workstation failed
to activate properly". it's also been showing "getcluster" errors in the
console window lately. have things been changing? do i need to
reinstall or upgrade?
