Well, at the show today I wasn't able to find a 3-button PS/2 port
mouse, but I did find a 3-button serial port mouse, and I've installed
that on lola. I also have a frob to convert the PS/2 style plug into a
9-pin sub-d connector, but using that isn't sufficient for NetBSD or DOS
to find this mouse on the PS/2 connector. I'm inquiring if there are
driver hacks that might make that work.

I doubt this will work. I've been told that the PS/2 and serial ports work
at different electrical levels (the PS/2 is probably 5V TTL, the serial port
is obviously RS232 +15V).
Microsoft mice that can work on either the PS/2 or serial ports do this by
sensing the voltage and adjusting. For the newest Microsoft mouse the
version the sensing version is about $30 more expensive. I doubt you'll find
any cheap mice that do this.

Therefore, if you want a 3-button mouse, you'll have to lose a valuable COM
port (and associated interrupt).

3-button mice are ergonomic losers anyway.
