Mike `fixed' his problems by rebuilding static; I already made a
static binary (by hacking the link manually), but I'd like to get a
dynamically linked binary (especially since this version of emacs uses
a lot more X libraries than the FSF one (like, say, libXm :-)) if
possible.  I was hoping that someone would know the source of that
error (like ``you didn't compile with -Fpic'' (I didn't, by the way..
should I?  I'd like to hear someone say `yes' before I redo the
build. :-) or ``you should link with `-Bdynamic'' (but I tried that)
or something.) and could tell me what caused it and how to get around
it.
