Okay, the 1.1-based installation process is now complete and ready for
testing. The materials for this release are in
/mit/netbsd/release/netbsd-1.1 and /mit/netbsd/dev/install (the latter
will be mirrored inside the former when testing is done). Because the
sipb-athena source tree is rather large, I did not make a snapshot of
it; I hope to start using CVS for the sipb-athena source tree so we
can do that with a minimum of overhead for the next release.
The new srvd (/afs/sipb.mit.edu/system/i386_nbsd1/srvd.77.1) is built
from only slightly modified netbsd 1.1 sources (see
/mit/netbsd/release/netbsd-1.1/source/LOCAL-CHANGES for a list).
usr/X11R6, usr/andrew, and emul are just mountpoints to the stuff in
the old system packs, while bin/athena, etc/athena, and usr/athena are
rebuilt from the sipb-athena source tree.
PLEASE DO NOT MODIFY THE NEW SRVD DIRECTLY; that mekes it very hard to
track changes. If you find a problem, tell me about it and let me fix
it. When we finish testing, I will remove everyone's write access to
the srvd (including my own) to make sure that changes aren't made
outside of the release cycle. We can use /srvd/patch for important
changes.
