Checking the /etc/master.passwd file:
Login marc has no password.
Login marc is off but still has a valid shell.
And indeed:
lola-granola# grep marc /etc/master.passwd
marc::8888:101::0:0:Marc Horowitz:/mit/marc:/afs/sipb/project/tcsh/betatcsh
WTF?!!?
