w20-557-7 is near the deathtongue. I ran the cable to the machine.
deathtongue was displaying a plain blue screen with nothing but a
mouse pointer. (Is this the BSOD?) I pressed the reset button and
selected NT 4, and it eventually got to a screen saying:
1 System Processor [128 MB Memory]
*** STOP: number (number,number,number,number)
INACCSESIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
CPUID:GenuineIntel 6.3.3 irql:0 SYSVER number
and some other stuff which didn't look terribly interesting.
("number" means a hex number I didn't want to type in).
NT 5 booted okay, but I had zero luck figuring out how to enter an IP
configuration. (I think the only change I made was setting the
machine's DNS domain to mit.edu.) It did seem to believe the local
network was connected, though.
