I'm running off a CD with build 1946 (dated December) of Win2k for
possible installation on deathtongue. (Yes, the start menu now says
Windows 2000 instead of Windows NT).
I have been running this build on a notebook and have been reasonably
pleased with its stability.
Build 1946 a standard beta program build. Rather, it is beta 3
release candidate 0. That means that this is the zeroth release
candidate for the beta 3 release. It has only been released to select
beta participants under certain non-disclosure conditions.
Getting this installed in the office should be ok if bugs and comments
get submitted through IS (via the pismere mailing list). Microsoft
would not be happy with people making comments about build 1946 on
random news groups or to the press.
Therefore, if we are to install this on dt, there should be some kind
of notice to the effect that people should report bugs, comments, etc.
through the pismere mailing list and should not publicly disclose the
information about this build. This can be either a sign on the
machine or maybe a login notice (or perhaps both).
I'm planning to bring this up at Monday's meeting as a motion to
comply with the above so that 1946 can be installed on dt.
