Thanks for that! When I started snooping on Java, most of my colleagues were
against the name, and even thought of sending a 'formal' complaint to Sun
MicroSystems. Why?
Because Java is one of the islands of Indonesia, a country that is run under a
brutal dictatorship, with all the things that come along: censorship, torture,
no freedom of speech, etc. In 1975 indonesian troops invaded East Timor, a
former portuguese colony. Since then two hundred thousand people have been
killed in the territory (according to Amnesty International), and a small
guerrilla army (less than four hundred men), called Fretilin, has been trying
to draw world's attention to the struggle of their people. Many indonesians
themselves are trying to implement the respect for human-rights (namely a
human-rights association called Tapol), but their leaders don't think the same
way...
