We have been using Cafe this last week and have struck a similar problem.
The symptoms seem to include the above exceptions and often instances of
'javaw_g' left hanging around in memory. We have also had a few total
freezes of Cafe whilst debugging.
The only conclusion we have reached is that this behaviour seems to occur
quite often when using packages. We have discovered that by using the
default package the problems _usually_ go away. This is inconvenient but at
least it lets you get on with developing. Like you, we have tried both
Symantec and Sun compilers with no success.
We will be trying to track this down further this week and try to get
something off to Symantec. I would be very interested in hearing from anyone
who discovers anything more tangible. It's a shame to have such an
inconvenient problem as this, it doesn't represent my overall impression of
Cafe which is really quite a cool development environment.
