Java is a programming language specifically designed for In-
ternet application development. It is object-oriented, ar-
chitecture-neutral, and is supported by the latest version
of Netscape and other browsers. Java Programming: Basics
and Beyond is an in-depth introduction to Java for develop-
ers.
OL308 - Java Programming: Basics and Beyond
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course presents the Java language and main compo-
nents of Java programming for the Internet through dis-
cussion and hands-on exercises. Topics include:
-- Object Oriented Concepts,
-- Java Syntax and Constructs,
-- Java Class Development,
-- Applet and Package Construction,
-- The Java Development Environment,
-- Java Packages,
-- Exception Handling,
-- Threads,
-- Java Networking and Communication, and
-- Java GUI development.
Fundamentals of publishing Web documents will be cov-
ered as necessary. The course is hands-on and includes
many examples and independent programming sessions with
individualized instructor assistance.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
People involved with Web publishing and Web technology
based GUI development.
PRESENTATION:
OL308 is led by highly qualified and experienced in-
structors, not paid presenters. It is delivered as a
hands-on course on a network of Pentium machines run-
ning Windows 95 and the JDK. Each student has his/her
own workstation with class size limited to 12 students
per instructor.
On demand, OL308 can be delivered on-site.
DURATION:
5 days
PREREQUISITES:
Some programming experience in a high-level compiled
language and basic familiarity with a web browser are
required.
