I understand. But if the user can't allow a particular program to be
started from an applet (for example a program for playing remotely an MPEG
or MJPEG movie), and an applet can't integrate native methods, and an
applet can't read or write any local file, and an applet can't even read an
environment variable and can only open a socket connection with the Web
server ...
Then the benefits of the pair Browser+JAVA are nowadays very limited since
there aren't many JAVA packages that, being loaded from the wed server
allow you to do something different.
