This may or may not be your problem, but the Mac JDK likes to have
its applet tags in lower case:
<applet>
</applet>
I'd try that first, but it may be something else...

It should be OK right where the installer put it; I usually drag and
drop HTML files on it to be sure. If you have a Power Mac, you can
grab a beta copy of a Java-savvy Navigator 2.0 from Netscape's site
for testing (it's not available for 680x0 Macs yet :-( ).

It's a $299 Java development environment package for Macs from Natural
Intelligence (http://www.natural/com). It too is only available for Power
Macs at this time. I haven't tried it, but it's been getting favorable
reviews. Does anyone out there using Roaster care to comment?
