Hello!

The FrIJDE Project has released Alpha version 1.04. The Alpha version
tools consists of alpha editor, alpha compiler interface, and alpha
interpreter interface. The basic FrIJDE mechanism of tool loader,
tool bar, menu bar, etc. have now been tested and appear to work
without any significant problems. APIs and all source are included
for anyone who wishes to develop FrIJDETools.

The Free Integrated Java Development Environment (FrIJDE, pronounced
"frigid") Project is a world-wide effort to create a free,
platform-independent, fully-extensible, instantly-upgradable
development environment for the Java programming language.

The features of instant-upgradability and full-extensibility are met
by using a "load and go" approach in the main FrIJDE program. When
FrIJDE is started (as a stand-alone app), it loads all the tools it
finds in the Tools directory. These tools can be written to do
anything, including the basic functions of an IDE such as compiling,
interpreting, managing projects, browsing classes, etc. Each tool can
specify the standard menu items such as Help, About, Preferences,
etc., and they can also request that additional menus be put on the
main menu bar. Further, each tool can specify tool bar icons that
will be put in the floating tool bar. Each tool must handle all of
its own events (menu item selections and tool bar selections). Each
tool must be extended from the abstract FrIJDETool class (which
defines the basic requirements of a FrIJDETool).

FrIJDETool developers are always needed... we are on the verge of
something great.

becoming a FrIJDETool developer, or just download and play around with
the source, go to:

Take care. Thanks for reading.
