Announcing the Macintosh Beta Release of the Java(tm) Developers Kit
____________________________________________________________________
We're pleased to announce the availability of the 1.0 Beta release
of the Java Developers Kit (JDK) for Macintosh.
This release supports the final 1.0 Java API, however it is a beta
version of the Java Developers Kit for the Macintosh. The Macintosh
JDK requires System 7.5, running on a 68030 (or later) or PowerPC
microprocessor with at least 8 megabytes of physical memory and 6
megabytes of hard disk space. It includes a Java compiler,
Applet Viewer, and sample applets. Documentation for the API and
language specification is also available.
The JDK helps you to:
---------------------
- Develop applets that conform to the final applet API
- Create applets that run in all Java-enabled browsers
NOTE: The Macintosh beta JDK release does NOT include a Web
browser. Also, this beta release does not support building
standalone applications. Standalone application support
will be included in a later release.
How to get the JDK:
-------------------
See the following URL for detailed information and instructions for
the Macintosh beta 1 release.

Thank-you for your interest.
We hope you enjoy using the Macintosh Java Developers Kit Beta
release!
