Here is the introduction from url
  http://g.oswego.edu/dl/html/javaInCS.html

We in the Computer Science Department at the State University of New
York at Oswego have been using Java in the freshman CS majors-oriented
introductory programming course (``CS1'') since September 1995, and in
the second (freshman/sophomore) programming course (``CS2'') since
   January 1996.

Lately, many people from other Computer Science departments have been
asking me how it is going. I never quite know what to say beyond
``so far, so good''. Instead, I'm collecting some particular questions and
answers here. I'll update and add items as I get the chance.
