Sorry if this gets replicated (I had a mailer problem).
This morning I was working with some old Applet code and noticed a
local problem (perhaps global) with Netscape 2.0. I have an applet
http://www.cat.syr.edu/~craig/test/example1.html
which displays data files as BarGraphs. The applet receives a number
of filenames from HTML which it sets up in a Choice! Anyway, whenever
to select a new file, the BarGraph is updated to reflect the new file.
This requires the default behavior of update() to clear the panel by
doing a clearRect of the bounds in the Background Color. This
behavior is not working in any of our Netscape 2.0 installations
(Solaris 2.4, SunOS 4.1, or HP-UX). To track this down further, I
altered the applet to override update, and I explicitly call
clearRect.
Still this version (the one accessible via the above URL) does not
perform the clearRect from within Netscape. This works fine within
Appletviewer and it was working last week under Netscape 2.0B5!
Anyone else experience this "feature"?
Any ideas?
