That simply means you are out of memory (now that wasn't too hard :-))
Close a couple of apps. I find that closing Exchange makes a real
difference--it is a hog. Buying more RAM did wonders for me. I recommend
32MB of RAM for the serious Java developer under Windows.
Also, Win 95 isn't as good as it should be in reclaiming memory, so you'll
need to reboot once in a while.
The page faults are probably caused by javac dealing poorly with running
out of memory in the middle of the compilation. My guess is that it checks
for memory at startup (and issues the message you saw if it doesn't find
enough) and then just prays for the rest of the compilation.

Subject: What do you think is going on here?
Hello Javans,
I was experimenting with different applets today and a weird thing
happened.
Whenever I typed: javac filename.java, I first received this error message:
**Out of memory, exiting**
abnormal program termination
In other cases, I received a Windows 95 program termination window. When I
click on details, here is the message I get:
JAVAC caused an invalid page fault in
module JAVAI.DLL at 0137:10007fde.

Does anyone think that the JDK is corrupted and I have to re-download it?
The interpreter and the appletviewer is still working, it is only the
compiler that is screwed up and I am not sure why it happened.
Regards,
