The assertion by Jobs was that adding client-side complexity (such
as Java) will only serve to slow down the spread of the Web until
Microsoft can catch up and take over. This is not too surprising
since Jobs' company is selling tools (WebObjects) to create server
apps more rapidly using object-oriented design. Frankly, I thought
his conclusions were more than a little self-serving.

I like Steve, but I felt the article was a bit contradicting... Without
going to great lengths here; I think that it is *extremely* difficult to
make a prediction about the Internet and networked computing and its impact
on society and the worldwide economy. No matter what's your name: Steve
Jobs, Bill Gates or Bill Clinton, too many players are on the field
creating too many variables.
