Here are alternate URLs for downloading the latest 1.0 JDK...

ftp://ftp.glocom.ac.jp/mirror/java.sun.com/pub/

ftp://www1.huji.ac.il/pub/java/pub/

ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/languages/java/

ftp://www.hensa.ac.uk/ftp/mirrors/java/

ftp://ftp.javasoft.com/pub/

ftp://www.blackdown.org/pub/Java/pub/

ftp://sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/pub/mirror/ftp.javasoft.com/pub/

Be forwarned that blackdown and javasoft almost never accept connections.
The German site was the only one that could maintain a connection long
enough to actually download the ~4MB JDK file in its entirety. Even then
it took several tries. Repeated tries at the other sites always finished
with incomplete transmissions.

Also, not all of the sites have the latest 1.0 JDK API documentation which comes
in a seperate zipped file. Particularly, the UNC site doesn't, and the Isreali
site does. I don't know about the others.
