This is probably a question more for developers and Java porters.

What's the final word so far on Java ports to browsers and across different
platforms. I know the limited amount of OS's it runs on now from the
documentation out there, and that it runs in Netscape and the Sun Hotjava
browser and appletviewer, but where will it be ported to in the near future?
More specificallly, does anyone out there have plans to port it over to
Windows 3.1/3.11 anytime soon? What about Mosaic, Microsoft's explorer, even
OS2?

It would be nice to have a definite list somewhere of developers porting
java, or even developer's plans to do so, just so we programmers can know
exactly what's happening and what to expect in the future. Maybe this list
already exists. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm working for an electronic publishing
company which hopes to use Java in the near future in the development of its
products for clients on the web. Right now I'm hired on as learning Java,
but how can I keep a job programming in Java if most people can't see it?
It's a great technology, but what if it nose-dives because of lack of
support. Even worse, what if some competing product wins over.

Actually, I'm probably fretting over nothing. Now that JKD 1.0 is out I'm
sure many developers will get on the band-wagon and start porting it ... I
hope.
