Don't you remember when the same claims of portability were made about
the "C" language?  Re-read a first-edition of K&R.  It reads like comic
fiction.

I have been predicting that Java's "native" methods will soon be
abused, producing non-portable code.  It's not sufficient to simply
say that this "shouldn't" happen, it will;  reality is made of sterner
stuff than theory.

I do support the Java language, in particular, its design goals.  But
let's not kid ourselves into believing the marketing bunk.
