Hi Arthur and all Java-fans!

I am working within a project aimed to create a multimedia environment,
entirely written in Java. We have just begun, and I would like to query
for other similar initiatives. Working together is far more exiting than
make it all happen by yourself. Our project is EC funded and will span
2 years, starting februari 1st, including about 20 persons.

My initial question is about audio in Java, has anyone written an audio
recorder? (That works atleast for the Sun Solaris Sparc platform.) And has
anyone done a similar thing for video? I assume that support for this will
be included in the java packages, but not in time for our project. Perhaps
we could help in some way, to build the packages.

We aim to build a distributed engineering environment, using MBone
technology. The network part will be based on RTP and RMP, and we have an
early prototype running (mainly a whiteboard distributed by multicast).

The project is called MATES, Multimedia Assisted distibuted Tele-Engineering
Services, and is an ESPRIT project within the IT part of the 4th Framework
Program of the European Community. ;-)

So, I invite anyone that is interested to contact us.

Cheers,
Kare Synnes
