I hope I am not covering old ground here since I am not a member of
this mail list (too high bandwidth).
I know Sun is planning to submit to the OMG a mapping from the
Interface Definition Language (IDL) to Java. I have heard they
have shown a prototype of Java integrated with their CORBA compliant
NEO system.

doing the same. I have heard of others working on this too.

Combining Java and CORBA provides an excellent platform for true
distributed object computing.
