Client Platforms_______________________________________________________
Platform ONE Platform TWO (laptop)
Win95 Win95

Soundblaster-16 ((NO Soundblaster-16))
Server Platform________________________________________________________
UNIX
Issue__________________________________________________________________
We have successfully compiled the Animator.class from Sun at:
http://java.sun.com/applets/applets/Animator/index.html
We have placed the compiled Animator.class and its components,
ImageNotFoundException.class and ParseException.class, on our UNIX
server. When we visit our pages on the server using Netscape's
2.0b3 Navigator on Platform ONE, the Animation applet performs
as intended.
However, when we visit the same pages on the server using the same
2.0b3 Navigator on a DIFFERENT machine, Platform TWO (laptop), the
Animation applet does not initialize.
When we removed the Soundblaster-16 drivers in the Platform ONE machine's
AUTOEXEC.BAT file, the Animation applet does not initialize. When we
replace the drivers, the Animation applet performs correctly, again.
We are NOT using a .au sound file - there is no sound, whatsoever,
associated with the images our Animator.class is displaying.
Additionaly, when we visit the http://java.sun.com page, the illustrated
coffee cup/saucer and steam animate on BOTH Platform ONE and Platform TWO
without issue. We presume the java.sun.com page is using a variation of
the Animator.class applet, also.
Why is it that the Animator.class applet works as intended on Platform
ONE without issue, yet on Platform TWO (laptop) the same Animator.class
fails to initialize? Why does the Animator applet fail to initialize
when we remove the Soundblaster-16 drivers from Platform ONE? What
setting on Platform TWO (laptop) are we overlooking?
