Percolator Industries ports the CLIPS Expert System to Java

This announces the availablity of a programming tool intended for
Programmers and Software Engineers involved in writing Shells and
Expert Systems. Many non-programmers, (assuming sufficient skill
to use a windowing environment) can also use this product.
This shell maker for expert systems is called 'MOCHA'. It is a
direct translation of the NASA developed CLIPS expert system to
Java, permitting expert system shell users to develop and port
expert system shell applets.
Percolator Industries licenses aiTRAN, a toolset for manipulating
C programs and with this technology, it was possible to port the
approximately 40k lines of (NASA written) C source code to Java.
Programmers and others familiar with CLIPS will find that all of
the established CLIPS demonstration programs are operational and
perform exactly as the original applications did using a C basis,
except for less favorable timings. The only CLIPS code components
which was not implemented was the Micro-Emacs editor and the sub-
system for interfacing CLIPS to MS-Windows.
If your organization is today involved with expert system tech-
nology or is planning for an application based on the concept of
distributed content, look at MOCHA, our CLIPS based Java system.
MOCHA is the only expert system available today for service on
the Internet with literally millions of hours of use by thousands
of users in hundreds of different system configurations. And it
is 100% based on CLIPS.
