Dan--

<java user group up to now...

There is a national "Java User Group" -- the Java-SIG of the Sun User
Group. Currently membership in Java-SIG is free with membership in
the Sun User Group, but it looks like Java-SIG is going to be large
enough to be spun off on its own in a couple of months. And, after
all, even though the Java technology is originally Sun's, the whole
*point* of Java is to be vendor-neutral, right?

The national Java-SIG can be reached at:

	office@sug.org
	(617)232-0514 voice
	(617)232-1347 fax
	http://www.sug.org/java.html

There's a list of local chapters on that site.

Anyway, to answer your question, there are a couple local Java groups
around the country. The SFO one is run by Dimension X -- although I
don't know if they actually have face-to-face meetings. Here's the
scoop:

San Francisco, California - Java User's Group
