Sun is *not* playing games with Java. It's decaring a war to Wintel monopoly.

Java is a new revolutionary approach to programming and as such it's 
still normal to be buggy a little bit. Releasing it early is good because 
for example this mailing list gives a very good input to Sun for 
enhancements. Also it gives it an edge over MS.

I wouyyld say the code *is* executable, may be not on the native hardware 
but on the java machine, and that's it's beauty!

Think about that: having a standard virtual machine where all the code 
runs no problem. We'll be able toexecute code we write today may be on a 
microwave one day, or a watch. Why limit computing to PCs and Sun 
workstations?
