What mime types have already had content handlers implemented for us?

Does the java spec. contain a minnimum set of mime types to be implemented?

Most important of all, has anyone rolled their own? I _really_ need to see
an example of how this is done. Quite a lot rides on this ability. Any
pointers to examples would be great.

I know that the java site has a sample implementation of an Alpha3 content
handler for text/plain but that doesn't do me a lot of good because so much
has changed since then (or has it?).

TIA,
Caskey
