Hi there,
Does anyone out there know the time frame of the availability of
a new Java runtime that has at just-in-time compiler builtin ??
Also, does anyone know if hilit19.el (for GNU Emacs 19) has been
modified to highlight Java source ? I've a crude java-mode.el which
is ok but not great (highlighting with colors is much better ;-).
With JIT built-into the runtime, one can potentially have a fairy
decent Java programming environment in Emacs -- e.g. mark & send
regions of Java source to any runtime (e.g. a local copy of Netscape 3.x
or a Netscape running on a different machine) and watch the results.
ps. I heard rumors that Larry Wall is writing a Java runtime on his
own, is that true ? ;-). That would be interesting if his
runtime has a builtin JIT compiler.
regards.
