I appreciate that you don't want to create unnecessary code, but it
seems sad that we have to reduce the level to the lowest common
denominator! Having said that, I know of one X application (no names,
no packdrill) which supported all 5 (!) X mouse buttons and, when
ported to MS Windows, displayed the weirdest actions/bugs/features
until a patch removed support for all but buttons 1 & 2.

Maybe our cider and raincoat producing friends might consider up-
grading their mouse support?
