I'm a long time PC (Windows) user and HTML coder. I don't have any
Perl experience or any C++ experienece. But I have done a fair bit of
macro programming and a bit of Basic programming. So I have a basic
understanding of program flow and variables in those contexts which I
doubt will have much carry over as I endevour to learn Java.

Which brings me (finally) to my question. How does one go about
learning Java? Is there enough carryover from C or C++ that I should
buy a self-guided text for that language? Is there any Java-specific
book on the market that would be approriate to a someone with my lack
of programming experience?

Thankx
