Hi, a few beginner questions, sorry if they've been frequently asked.

Is there any mechanism in Java for talking to remote objects similar to
NeXT's Distributed Objects? I.e. you call methods of the remote object in
an identical way to a local object using proxies.

Can you pass objects (data as well as code) over the wire?

On a slightly related note, is there any persistence mechanism?

Thanks,

Dave
