For People who are interested in trying out the beta version (with Java Applets
support) of Netscape Navigator (i.e. version 2.0b1), please read on:
1) The version of Java supported by Netscape Navigator is compatible with
Pre-Beta1 Java Developers kit. Applets written for the Alpah 3 release
HotJava browser are Not compatible with this later version of Java.
2) (for SunOS4.1, Solris2.3, Solaris2.4 and IRIX environment):
To be able to run Java applets, Netscape Navigator needs to be able to
load Java class files from a file called moz2_0.car.
This file is included in the distribution but must be moved to one of
these directories:
/usr/local/netscape/java/classes
$HOME/.netscape
Any directory listed in the $CLASSPATH environment variable.
If you want to run the Navigator "in place" in the directory you unpacked
it in you must set the CLASSPATH environment variable to "."
As a golden rule of thumb, it is always wise to read "README" file or check
out online "Help=>Release Notes" before you start using any software product.
