Hi all, I have yet to get Netscape 2.0b to actually work with Java, or
anything else. I am using two versions:
1) Linux
2) Macintosh
Problems with Linux:
I can't even get Netscape to open its first screen... after attempting
to load I get the following message:
netscape: locale `C' not supported.
If the $XNLSPATH directory does not contain the proper config files,
Netscape will crash the first time you try to paste into a text
field. (This is a bug in the X11R5 libraries against which this
program was linked.)
Since neither X11R4 nor X11R6 come with these config files, we have
included them with the Netscape distribution. The normal place
for these files is /usr/X386/lib/X11/nls/. If you can't create that
directory, you should set the $XNLSPATH environment variable to
point at the place where you installed the files.
couldn't load:
No other resources were reasonable!
The fallback font "fixed,*-16-*" could not be loaded!
Giving up.
This worries me... lots. The old versions didn't seem to have this
problem! Yikes! what am I doing wrong? I am pretty sure I have all the
fonts I need to have....
2) Macintosh. None of the Java applets seem to run. I http to
http://www.javasoft.com/ and run some of the demo applets. None work.
Why?
Thanks in advance...
Ron
