My take on the question was, "is Java a language/runtime where I can
easily access CORBA objects?" If the author were a systems engineer
implementing a CORBA-compliant environment, he or she would have asked
the question differently (they would know CORBA-compliance and access
is primarily a systems and not a language issue), so I'm assuming an
applications engineer or manager. In tech support long ago, I learned
that it's better to try and answer implied questions than provide
literal answers to poorly-worded ones.
When the IDL binding to DOE/NEO or similar packages are available,
the answer to the implied question will be yes. Until then, there's
no point in applications engineers wasting much time trying to
access CORBA objects from Java -- it's not a task for the faint-hearted.
The JOE engineers are to be commended for how hard they've worked
toward making DOE/NEO accessible from Java.
