Did you instruct your ISP's server to request the latest LIST?
I use WinVN for reading newsgroups and each time I invoke it,
a message box titled "Request LIST from Server?" posts the
following message: "Request the latest group list from server?"
Then, "This can be time-consuming". [14,000 newsgroups]
I don't know how server software for the newsgroups operates, but it
may be possible that your server has not yet updated its lists
of available newsgroups from [majordomo?]. I.E. your ISP's server
software for news readers doesn't yet know about comp.lang.java.
BTW, as a student I'm sure you've heard of having to "pay your dues...."
You should know that before anyone will hire you for Java programming,
you'll have to host a conference for us older hackers down there in
Australia. Thought you might like to be forewarned...
